The San Diego State Research Foundation WIC Program (SDSU WIC) is a nonprofit agency that has been providing WIC services in San Diego County for over 20 years. We have over 12 WIC Offices located throughout San Diego to provide services to over 40,000 participants per month. WIC (The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children) is administered by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). WIC provides healthy foods to supplement the dietary needs of participants to ensure good health, growth and development. The amounts and types of foods WIC provides was redesigned in 2009 to include fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grain foods. Click here to learn more about the specific types of foods, and quantities, that WIC provides to WIC families. WIC supports breastfeeding as the ideal method of feeding and nurturing infants. Breastfeeding helps mothers feel close to their babies and breast milk contains all the nutrients that infants need to grow and develop. Click here to learn more about how San Diego WIC can provide more information and support for breastfeeding. San Diego State University Research Foundation is an award winning program and has won the following prestigious achievements: 2013 Best Practices Award for Exceptional Community Outreach; 2011 Best Practices Award for Learner-Centered Education and Nutrition Services; 2011 Best Practices Award for Excellence in Health Linkages
