- Description
- WIC is a federally funded health program which provides eligible Arizona residents with nourishing supplemental foods, nutrition education and referrals to other health and human services programs. All WIC services are free. Who is Eligible? Pregnant women. Breastfeeding women, Postpartum women [up to 6 months after end of the pregnancy], Infants, Children age 1 up to 5th birthday. Other Requirements: Meet WIC income guidelines, Be a resident of Arizona, Have a “WIC Code”. A WIC Code is determined by WIC staff or another health professional and is based on the WIC Program Federal guidelines. The identification of a code[s] is done through a health screening at the certification visit. There are two types of WIC codes that qualify for WIC eligibility: Medical concerns such as anemia, underweight, overweight, history of pregnancy complications or poor pregnancy outcomes [e.g. low birth weight infant, prematurity, etc.]; Dietary concerns such as not meeting the Recommended Dietary Guideline
