  • The WIC Program is a Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. The Food and Nutrition Service administers the program at the federal level and provides funds to state agencies for program implementation and administration. At the state level, the Department of Human Resources, Department of Health, WIC Branch administers the program. WIC has provided nutrition education and supplemental foods to low income families for thirty years. WIC benefits are available to eligible pregnant or postpartum women, infants, and children up to the age of 5 years. Eligible participants must have an income at or below 185% for families with children ages 2-5; at or below 275% for a pregnant woman; at or below 280% for families with children to age two; be a state resident; and be at nutritional or medical risk, as determined by a health professional.
