If your family includes a pregnant, breastfeeding, or postpartum woman; a baby or child under the age of five, you may be eligible for this nutrition program. WIC offers nutrition information, breastfeeding support, lead screening, referrals to other health services and vouchers to purchase healthy food. The supplemental foods include iron-rich cereals, whole grains, fruits, fruit juices, eggs, peanut butter, dried beans, vegetables, milk, and iron-fortified infant formula. WIC's Farmers Market Nutrition Program is available June through September. Vouchers for this program can be used to purchase fresh fruits and vegetables at various farmers markets.
