- WIC's official title is The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children. WIC serves to protect the health of low-income women who are pregnant or breastfeeding up to one year or recently delivered up to six months, infants and children up to age 5 by providing nutritious foods, information on healthy eating and referrals to health care.
