The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children - better known as the WIC Program - serves to safeguard the health of low-income women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are nutritional risk. WIC provides nutritional assessment and education, referrals to health care and nutritious foods to supplement diets.
WIC, the Women, Infants and Children Program, is a nutrition program that helps pregnant women and families with babies and young children eat well and stay healthy.
The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program is funded by a grant from the United States Department of Agriculture to provide supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk.
