WIC (Woman, Infants and Children) is A Special Supplemental Nutrition Program with a purpose to give children the best possible start by providing optimal nutrition during the critical stages of development. To fulfill this purpose, the Texas WIC program provides nutrition education, benefits to purchase healthy foods, health care referrals and breastfeeding education along with breastfeeding support. The Texas WIC Program offers these services free of charge to eligible pregnant women, breastfeeding and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five.
