Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a special supplemental nutrition program which provides services to pregnant women, new mothers, infants and children up to their 5th birthday based on nutritional risk and income eligibility. The primary services provided are health screening, risk assessment, nutrition education and counseling, breastfeeding promotion and referrals to health care. Supplemental food is provided at no cost to participants.
The Women, Infants and Children, or "WIC" program at the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, helps to provide healthy food and nutrition education to women and their children. Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center's WIC program was awarded the distinction as being a "Breastfeeding Friendly" WIC site by the Missouri Department of Health in 2013, 2014 and 2015. You may qualify for WIC services if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or if you have an infant younger than 12 months of age, or a child or children under the age of 5. There is no cost for this service. To be eligible, you must meet income guidelines and be in need of nutritional education.
