The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women Infants and Children (WIC) is a nutrition program. WIC helps to improve the health of women, infants, and children by providing nutrition education, nutritious foods, and referrals for health care. WIC Goal: To improve the health and nutritional status of low income Women, Infants, and Children during critical times of growth and development and to increase participants knowledge of the relationship between proper nutrition and good health while providing specific supplemental foods. Mothers participating in the WIC program are encouraged to breastfeed whenever possible. Therefore, to support and promote breastfeeding, the WIC program provides prenatal breastfeeding education and support. Who is Eligible for WIC? To be eligible, you must be: A pregnant woman; A woman who just had a baby; A breastfeeding woman; An infant or child under 5 years old. WIC Certification and Re-certification Appointment: Proof of identification, residence and income is required at each WIC certification and re-certification appointment; Identification, Residence and Income Proofs must be Current and Valid; Patient must be presence at certification and recertification.
