The goal of WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program is to give our children the best possible start in life. This is done by providing nutrition education, breast-feeding support, healthy foods, and health care referrals during the critical stages of fetal and childhood development. It is a nutrition education and supplement program for pregnant, breast-feeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children up to five years of age.

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) serves to safeguard the health of income eligible pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating, and referrals to health care at no cost. Participants must meet income guidelines and a State residency requirement and must be individually determined to be at “nutritional risk” by a health professional.
