WIC is a federally funded, state administered, supplemental food program for pregnant women, infants and children under the age of 5 (hence the name "WIC"). WIC provides basic nutritious foods such as milk, cheese, eggs, beans, peanut butter, enriched and fortified cereals, juice and infant formula. Nutrition and breastfeeding education and counseling is also provided. Eligibility for the program is based on financial and health need. There is no cost to the client.
